Metric Analysis: Jeremy Maclin is a unique player who has always been a more of a middle of the pack type of talent. But the fact he hit 90+ percentile production seasons back to back in 2014-15 is enough of a reason to buy for the right price. He has a injury history that most likely influenced the Chiefs’ decision to cut bait. He could be a valuable addition if he returns close to his 14-15 form. However, a floor of 5,000,000 a year to a ceiling of 11,250,000 should be the ball park in negotiations.

NFL Market Share Production

Metric Analysis: Quinton Patton was a decent athlete coming out of Louisiana Tech. But his production for his level of competition was concerning to his overall MSA Rating. And his skills have translated about as well as his MSA rating determined. There is potential for a backup or a decent contributor due to his athleticism. However, I don’t see a massive improvement from what he has already accomplished.

*Speed Score: A score formulated from a prospect’s 40-yard dash and mass density measured against all his positional peers since 1998.

*Flexibility Score: A score formulated from a prospect’s short shuttle, 3-Cone and mass density measured against all his positional peers since 1998.

Metric Analysis: Nico Siragusa has the profile of a potentially elite zone blocking guard. Elite explosiveness with near elite flexibility. He’s perfect for a scheme that emphasizes short area quickness and the ability to maintain leverage. Siragusa also has enough speed to work in a power scheme. But his athletic traits in a ZBS can make him a star.

Metric Analysis: If there ever was a good version of Matt Kalil. It’d be Marshall Newhouse. He lacks explosiveness that makes him a liability to most pass rushers with better get off. But his speed and flexibility make him great in terms of maintaining leverage and getting to second level defenders. He’s always been a better fit at guard vs. tackle due to his lack of explosiveness. However, if you wanted Matt Kalil, this is the version you’d want to play around with in a low yard per attempt offense.

NFL Market Share Production

Metric Analysis: Kony Ealy is one of those edge rushers who looks the parts physically from length and size. But lacks certain athletic qualities and especially production thresholds. His athleticism and size can turn him into a potential long-term starting defensive end. But he is likely to never put up high quality NFL production consistently in his career due to his lack of quality production and speed. This on the surface looks more like a move by the Patriots to acquire a defensive end with a great 3-Cone time.

Which fits their draft profile and free agency acquisitions. And Ealy is someone who can become a mismatch type with certain offensive tackles who lack explosiveness and flexibility. Because Ealy can take these athletic qualities that are similar to Roosevelt Colvin and become a major asset. It’ just Colvin was always from college to the NFL capable of producing more consistently than Ealy thus far.

Metric Analysis: Projects as an average to below average power tackle. Lacks explosiveness to be a liability against most Edge Rushers. Better fit inside based on arm length and athletic profile. But his potential ability to maintain leverage if he gets his hands on a defender is where most of the appeal is. Bottom-line, he’s just not explosive enough to hold up on the Edge, and it doesn’t solve the Vikings’ big offensive inefficiency in low yards per attempt.

NFL Market Share Production

Metric Analysis: Prince Amukamara is one of those cornerback prospects where amazing athletic ability doesn’t make up for poor ball skills. And the ability to find the ball in coverage. He’s a corner who can defiantly start. But he simply won’t live up to his physical gifts mostly due to that disconnect between his production and athletic ability. Not to forget to mention the disadvantages he has with lower end arm length and small hand size.
