NFL Market Share Production

donta-hightower

Metric Recommendation: Dont’a Hightower is a throwback version of the big inside linebacker types the Giants had in the 80s. But he doesn’t have the production to match his physical attributes. His athletic ability is built on explosiveness/speed. However, he’s a very linear athlete limiting his overall upside. Hightower can excel in a scheme that keeps everything in front of him and has plenty of help behind him.

He would also perform very well in red zone/short area zones. But his liabilities exist in man coverage, especially against receivers that can out maneuver him, or force him to adjust his hips quickly. Based on Hightower’s athletic liabilities and his overall production being solid, but not elite from college to the NFL. I’d recommend a salary of 4,260,000 to 6,390,000. This is the floor to highest of ceiling for what Hightower can bring to the table.

He’s definitely an above average linebacker in the NFL. However, if you believe you are getting an elite or near elite inside linebacker. Hightower doesn’t have the overall athletic ability, nor the production from the NFL or college to make that leap.
