General Notes:

Anthony Ellis has the type of body that most NFL scouts can’t get over when it comes to defensive players. However, I’m not like most NFL scouts.

Despite not looking like a Marvel superhero, Ellis gets the job done as a pass rusher and run defender. He plays with very active hands, and he has the strength to get full extension with one arm against much larger linemen.

I wouldn’t suggest Ellis declare early due to the bias the NFL has against FCS players. But he’s someone I would keep my eye on as a rotational pass rusher in the mold of Jarvis Jones or Markus Golden.

He’s a smart player who deserves more attention.

General Notes:

Austell is a bit underweight for the NFL at 6-3, 290ish pounds, but I love his football smarts and his finishing ability. His body type and playing style remind me most of former Nevada offensive tackle Joel Bitonio.

Though he isn’t quite the athlete that Bitonio was, Austell still shows similar strength. And Austell is more polished in dealing with counter moves than you’d expect from most college football linemen.

If you can get past a couple of bad reps he had at the beginning of the game, you will find a decent offensive guard value ready to be scooped up.

General Notes:

This wasn’t the best game to showcase McGowen’s pass coverage ability, but I found his football awareness and on field knowledge to be exceptional. There were a couple lapses and confusion in his approach, but he figured out their patterns fairly quickly. He does struggle a bit with angle tackling. And he didn’t show above average quickness or acceleration. I want to see more of him later this year, but zone concepts seem to be the only fit I see thus far with his athletic ability.

General Notes:

De Luca is a tough inside presence who is at his best blowing up inside running plays. He makes good tackles on the boundaries, but this game wasn’t his best as he took poor angles at times. And he didn’t show exceptional sideline to sideline pursuit ability. I like what he brings to the table. He does play zone coverage well too, but he might be exposed when it comes to speed at the next level.

General Notes:

I really enjoyed his determination after the catch, but most of his production came off screens. And he didn’t have enough time to really show a solid foundation of sprint manipulation due to the game becoming a blowout. I am intrigued by Hansen going forward, but there is a lot lacking from this game.
